Disaster Preparedness Update

DisasterPrep_730Yesterday, I received a briefing at the Washington Military Department’s “Mission Control” Emergency Operations Center. We discussed disaster preparedness and response. Washington State leads the nation in preparing for cyber attacks on critical information technology systems, but we still have a lot of work to do.
Of greatest concern, though, is the “Big One” — The Cascadia Earthquake that could hit tomorrow or 50 years from now — we have no way of knowing. Thousands will perish. Roads, bridges, and hospitals will crumble. We’ll be out of power for at least 6 months. Beware the huge Tsunamis. We are not prepared.

Former State Representative Mary Lou Dickerson 36th LD

“Roger Goodman is one of the brightest and most thoughtful legislators I’ve ever worked with. He has used his very strong analytical and political skills to get major bills passed, and he’s been particularly effective as an advocate for children and families. Roger is not afraid to take a courageous stand if it is based on common sense and will improve the quality of life for regular citizens. Roger Goodman is not bought and paid for by the monied interests.”
